Are You Weary? Jesus is Rest.
Updated: Sep 5
Jesus Is Rest
In a world that is constantly rushing, striving, and stretching us to our limits, rest can feel like a distant luxury.
But for those who follow Jesus, rest isn’t just a concept, it’s a person.
Jesus IS rest.
When we think of rest, we often imagine sleep, stillness, or an escape from chaos. But in the presence of Jesus, rest goes much deeper.
It’s not so much about stepping away from life, but stepping into Him.
Knowing Jesus Is Rest
Rest begins not with doing less, but with knowing Him more.
As we watch Jesus, how He prays, how He speaks, the way He does things, we find a rhythm of grace that is entirely countercultural. His manner, His posture, His attitude are soaked in peace.
He moves without hurry, speaks with purpose, and loves without limit.
When we are with Him, rest becomes a WAY of being.
Receiving from Him
Rest is also about receiving.
In Jesus, we are invited into freedom, and into joy. He provides not only for our physical needs but for our deepest longings: safety, security, and a sense of being known.
His atmosphere, the environment He always provides, is one of love.
And we get to receive from Him not through our own work, but because He delights to give.
Being Myself in His Presence
With Jesus, we can be ourselves.
Whether we’re introverts, extroverts, or somewhere in between. There’s no pressure to perform.
No egos.
No striving.
No hidden agendas.
Just the simple, liberating truth that we are loved. We are safe. We are home.
Jesus is our foundation, and on that foundation we find space to breathe, to be, and to belong.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matt 11. 28-30)

When we stop striving, we start receiving.
When we are still, we see more clearly who He is, and who WE are in Him.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14.6)
He is the way to rest.
The truth that frees us.
The life that sustains us.
So if your soul is tired today, not just your body, but the part of you that carries burdens, worries, and questions… remember this:
You don’t need to work harder.
You need to come closer.
Because Jesus is rest.
